Week 3, 4 and 5

I'm sorry, Wing House Poker players.... I've been busy and haven't updated this blog like I said I would....

Week 3 was a good week for Kevin Williams. After finishing 2nd quite a few times in his last few games, he busted out Mr. Bennie Harrelson for the win. Mandy shook some of the bad luck she had been having and played her way to a 3rd place finish.

Week 4 - Bennie's luck reversed, but this time it was Mrs. Glenda Harrelson who powered her way through the final table to go head's up with myself for the win. I dodged a bullet when she pulled Quad Aces... and that was the turning point in the game... I won some hands and ended up knocking Mrs. Harrelson out second. A good points night as she jumped well up into the top 9.

Week 5 - Tonight was Week 5 and it was a great night of poker. We had 20 players, so we started out with 4 tables of 5 players. There was a lot of good playing, but Joanna Carrisal shook her couple weeks of terrible luck to make it to head's up with Dustin Brown. They played a very aggressive and tough game and the chip lead went back and forth multiple times.

There were some really good plays. For example, one hand the flop came out, Joanna checked, Dustin checked behind her, the turn came, Joanna checked, then Dustin checked.... the blinds were fairly large at this point, so it was worth trying to steal, so on the river Joanna bet 32 chips with absolutely nothing. After some thought, Dustin called the 32 and raised 32 more.... Joanna folded and admitted to trying to steal the blinds, turning over Q 2 off suit... Dustin took the pot.... laughed and turned over his hand... *Q 2* off suit..... great read and great play, Dustin!

Dustin eventually would up with the big stack and since it was getting really late, Joanna called a couple of questionable hands, which Dustin took advantage of, whittling her down and getting the win... again, great playing, both of you. Enjoy your $20 Gift Certificate, Dustin.

I've been enjoying our poker nights and to me it's a great way to learn how to play. Playing live is quite different than playing online and is a lot more fun. Some of you who are a little further down in the points, don't get discouraged, a lot of the midrange places are very close, so it only takes a couple of good nights to jump way up the list.

Since it's summer-time, quite of few of you have been busy and have skipped nights.... don't worry about the points, you can still show up and play any Thursday night you have free. We're missing you guys.... such as the Bishops, Twig, Wayne, etc.

Don't forget to go to http://www.awhpoker.net/Points.html and check out where you are in the points....

Thanks for another fun evening and we'll see you all next Thursday evening!
